  SNOWBOARD COACHES  


AVSC is proud of the outstanding caliber of our Program Directors and coaching staff. They embody our core values of commitment, teamwork, discipline and citizenship. They are terrific role models and mentors and their dedication throughout the season is the reason for our athletes' success both on and off the hill. AVSC's legacy of athletic excellence is thanks to their efforts.

AVSC Snowboarding Director Miah Wheeler
This will be Miah's 8th year with AVSC, 5th year as Snowboard Director. Miah has been a coach at the Club since 2001 and has taught snowboarding for 10 years. Miah's focus on teaching freestyle snowboarding has yielded outstanding results for his athletes at the USASA Nationals for the past two years. Miah holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Fort Lewis College in Durango and has also achieved success as a kayak instructor. In 2002, he was the youngest member ever granted certification to train instructors from the American Canoe Association.
AVSC Snowboard Head Coach Travis Mclain
Travis has been coaching snowboarding with AVSC for 6 years. Travis was born and raised in Snowmass Village and is a former X-Games Gold Medalist in Boarder X at the 2000 ESPN X-Games in Mt. Snow, VT. Travis the the proud owner of Radio Boardshop in downtown Aspen and he performs surgery in his spare time.
AVSC Snowboard Team 1 Coach Tyler Lindsay
This is Tyler's seventh season with AVSC. He is a Carbondale native and a proud graduate of Portland State University. In addition to being an excellent rider and coach, Tyler has a steady hand with a video camera and great editing skills. He modestly lists being handsome as his hobby in his spare time.
AVSC Snowboard Coach Brett Conover
Brett is in his second season coaching Team 1 snowboarders at AVSC. Brett hails from Vermont and prefers the conditions out here. He is a college graduate who wishes to keep his hobbies confidential.
AVSC Snowboard Coach Ryan Jervis
Ryan is the other Carbondale native on the AVSC Snowboard Coaching staff. Ryan's being coaching with the Club for 3 years and lists his hobbies as "fishin' and four-wheelin'."
AVSC Snowboard Devo Coach Romina "Romi" Harding
This is Romi's first season as a coach with AVSC. A former Ski Pro for Aspen Skiing Company, Romi won gold at the USASA Nationals in halfpipe in March of 2008. Romi hails from Argentina and works a physical trainer in her spare time.
AVSC Snowboard Coach Jason Cook
Jason joins Romi as rookie coaches with AVSC this season, but he's been coaching professionally for 3 years. Jason hails from Stowe, VT, is currently attending the University of Denver and claims he has hobbies - yes he does!
