| Executive Director Mark Cole |
| Mark started at AVSC in October of 2001 after 17 years with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). His previous work at NOLS included 6 years as staffing manager, 5 years as finance director and 3 years as alumni and development director. Mark has a Masters degree in Mathematics and taught at the University of Vermont for 2 years. Mark has been with the Club for 10 years. |
| Special Events Director Barbara Frank |
| Barb is originally from the East Coast but like many others at AVSC has followed the well-worn path to Aspen. After close to twenty years Barb considers the Roaring Fork Valley her home. Barb graduated from Boston University with a BA in Advertising and Public Relations and has worked with non-profit organizations for the past eight years. Five of those years were with Aspen Film as the General Manager. She proud to have joined the AVSC staff as Special Events Director in July of 2007. Barb is a member of the Aspen Art Museum, the Aspen Historical Society, a committee co-chair at Food & Wine and a 2005 graduate of Roaring Fork Leadership. |
| Major Gifts Director Bobbi Ann Houtsma |
| Bobbi Ann is a native New Englander and graduate from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and B.B.A. and was a competitive figure skater. She spent the majority of her professional career in the technology field in Denver and has called Aspen home with her 3 children for the last 5 years. Graham, 14 and Scotty, 15 are both Alpine racers with AVSC, Morgan is a 2011 AHS graduate and off to college. Bobbi Ann is a marathon runner, avid skier, and biker and general outdoor enthusiast. She is passionate about the environment and is on the executive board at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies. |
| Academic Director Brooks Bryant |
| Brooks grew up in Louisiana but has spent most of his adult life in Colorado. He retired from business and moved to Aspen in 2005. His first interaction with the club was as the parent of club athletes and subsequently as an AVSC snowboard coach. Little did he know that his work with AVSC had just begun! Now, Brooks is focused on working with the local schools to support AVSC athletes in setting and reaching their academic goals. Brooks has a Bachelors and Masters degree in Behavioral Science from Louisiana Tech. |
| Marketing and Development Manager Alan Cole |
| Alan was hired by AVSC in 2002 after working for Aspen Interactive Media as an account manager and Aspen Skiing Company in International Sales and Marketing. Alan lives in Carbondale and has been a valley resident for 10 years. He graduated with a B.A. in American History from Vassar College, where he skied competitively in the NCSA Eastern Division. Alan has been with AVSC for almost 10 years. |
| Administrative Manager Beth Hansen |
| This will be Beth's second season with AVSC. Originally from the Denver area, Beth earned a B.A in Liberal Arts degree from Colorado State University, in Fort Collins, with a focus on public relations. While at CSU, she worked for two years in the University's Music, Theatre and Dance Department, organizing special events and sponsorship. Beth loves to snowboard and camp. |
| Base Camp Director Madeleine Hawken |
| Madeleine holds a Bachelors Degree in Commerce - majoring in Marketing, as well as a Science Degree - majoring in Human Geography. Event management work in Queenstown, New Zealand led her to realize one could combine the environment and passion for the mountains with a fulfilling and challenging job. Madeleine has 8 years of experience working with kids both in childcare and as a Camp Counselor. Madeleine begins her third year with AVSC as our Base Camp Director. |
| Accountant May Romano |
| May is entering her third season as AVSC's accountant. She hails from the Philippines, a country she describes as having "a tropical climate that is usually hot and humid." May says coming to work for AVSC has been "a great opportunity and experience for me to meet people with the common love of skiing and snowboarding. Each member is having a great time no matter what they do." |
